Dr Keith Rowley has reaffirmed the People's National Movement's commitment "to work steadfastly in and out of Parliament for the betterment of all citizens and the overall development of our country."

The opposition leader whished the country "a Merry Christmas" on behalf of the PNM's leaders and membership and on his own behalf as Leader of the Opposition and Political Leader of the party, saying "we hope our efforts will go far in ensuring we all enjoy a bright and prosperous 2011 and beyond."

Rowley noted the signficance of the Christmas season as Trinidad and Tobago joins the rest of the world in celebrating the birth of the Christ child and all he represents.

"As a nation, we have experienced significant changes over the last year, not the least of which has been the election of a new government," he noted, adding that while the change in government brought with it many challenges, "our nation must be commended for the peaceful and almost seamless transition of power."

He said, "This is indicative of the peace loving nature of our people and the maturity of our young democracy."

"We continue to demonstrate resilience and hold to the principles of peace on earth and goodwill to all men. This my fellow citizens is the true meaning of the season."
