More than two months after the stunning defeat of the People's National Movement (PNM) in the May 24 General Election, political analysts are still trying to figure out what caused it to happen.
And much of the focus is on why Manning called the election just over two years after winning a strong majority when his popularity had reached the lowest ever for a sitting prime minister.
In his column in the Sunday Express political scientist Selwyn Ryan raises some interesting issues about Manning's religious connections.
He wrotes: "Members of Jesus The Light of This World Ministries of which Rev Pena was the Prophetess, also maintained their belief that Mr Manning was ordained by God to lead Trinidad and Tobago, and that he was still the best person to do so."
He added, "Members of the Church were however not all convinced that Pena was giving him correct advice, and reportedly wrote advising him to ignore her messages which they believed were no longer coming from the Lord..."
