Political note: 424 nominated for LGE

424 candidates have filed nomination papers to contest the local government elections on October 21. 

1. The People’s National Movement (PNM) - 136
2. The Independent Liberal Party (ILP) - 136
3. The People’s Partnership - 136 
4. The Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) - 16 candidates in Point Fortin, Arima, Tunapuna/Piarco, Chaguanas, Diego Martin and Siparia

Each party has also published a list of possible Aldermen as required by the new law for election of Aldermen through a system of the Proportional Representation.
