Jack Warner's Eid message

File: Jack Warner
My Dear Brothers and Sisters, Assalamu Alaikum.

May the Peace and Blessings of God be with you.

Now that the Holy Month of Ramadan has come to a close, it is my most sincere hope that every Muslim who was able to keep the sacred Fast was able to do so and therefore would receive the maximum blessing and benefit of the Fast.

To those who successfully completed the Fast I say congratulations, for this exercise reaffirms one’s faith and devotion to Islam and brings one closer to Allah.

Eid ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the Holy Month, is a day when Muslims throughout the world show a common goal of unity. They pray together, feast together and, among other things, they give alms and food to the poor and the needy.

The revisiting of spiritual moorings and the pursuit of unity are critical to the restoration of peace and stability in our country. Too often is the cry that family life and positive values are lacking in our society.

Violence is taking over our communities and high levels of selfishness and greed can be seen everywhere. It is said that Islam “is a way of life” and by the observance of Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr the devotees of Islam fight the negative forces by engaging in a positive way of life.

On this auspicious occasion I wish our Muslim brothers and sisters Allah’s richest blessings and a happy and holy Eid ul-Fitr 2013.

To the non-Muslims in our society, let us use this occasion to better understand the culture, traditions and teachings of this great religion so that we may better our own lives and so that we may better appreciate, respect and celebrate with our Muslim brothers and sisters.

Eid Mubarak to all.

Respectfully Submitted,
Jack Warner | Interim Political Leader, Independent Liberal Party
