Bharath had written an email to members of the UNC in 2009 as the MP for St Augustine in which he was highly critical of Ameen as a local government representative.
He did not make any reference to that but said Ameen has proved to be an effective worker for the people.
The Trade Minister talked about the achievements of the government and said it is important to elect a UNC candidate to ensure that the government continues to deliver.
Earlier, Attorney General Anand Ramlogan traced the history of political parties to show how fragmentation works against opposition parties. "We love Jack," he said but wondered why his former cabinet colleague has created a new party.
