UNC, Jack holding separate meetings Friday

The United National Congress and Jack Warner are holding separate meetings Friday evening in the Chaguanas West Constituency (CWC).

The UNC will present its candidate for the CWC byelection, Khadijah Ameen, as it tries to win back the constituency. The UNC meeting is taking place at the ASJA Girls' high school in Charlieville. The meeting starts at 7:00.

Warner is meeting a short distance away at the Pierre Road recreation ground in Felicity in what he has dubbed Green Friday. The meeting begins a half hour before the UNC's.

There is strong speculation that Warner would announce that he is launching a new party. He already said earlier in the week that he would contest the election but did not say whether it would be as an independent or a member of a party.

The former UNC MP and party chairman has abandoned his yellow shirts and is inviting all supporters to wear green on Friday, which is the colour he has selected to continue his campaign.
