The Minister said $10 million is to buy vehicles to replace the old garbage trucks in order to improve garbage collection in the city. In addition $3.2 million is for upgrade of City Hall and $1.5 milion to upgrade the Central Market.
In a media release the minister said "this approval gives lie to the claims made by the City Corporation that it has been starved of funds." He added that he hopes the corporation would use the funds effectively for the projects indicated.
The projects are:
- Procurement of Major Vehicles
- Upgrade to the Central Market
- City Hall Auditorium Upgrade
- Lighting at the King George V Park, POS
- Desperlie Cresent Community Centre
- Harpe Place Homework Centre
- Fencing and paving Harpe Place Basketball
- HDC Compound St. Francois Valley Road Play Park
- Sea Lots Play Park
- Sogren Trace Play Park
- George Street Play Park
- Eli Mannette Play Park
- Charford Court Play Park
- Moseley Place Play Park
