Monday is nomination day for the July 29 Chaguanas West by-election.
It is expected that there will be at least five candidates:
Candidates have between nine in the morning and three in the afternoon to file their documents at the office of the returning officer, Everil Ross.
The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) will print the ballot papers once it clear who are the candidates.
In order to be nominated each candidate must satisfy several requirements, including at least six supporting signatures and in the case of a party candidate, the person must have a letter from the party she or he is representing.
It is expected that there will be at least five candidates:
- Khadijah Ameen - United National Congress (UNC)
- Avinash Singh - People’s National Movement (PNM)
- Jack Warner - Independent Liberal Party (ILP)
- A candidate of the National Coalition for Transformation (NCT)
- A candidate of The Democratic National Alliance (DNA)
