Letter: Prayers welcome as the race enters the homestretch

In a society such as ours where marvels fade from memory after seven days, how can anyone reasonably still blame the last administration for our present-day ills one thousand, one hundred days after an entirely different set of governors was voted into office?

The answer must be that the former administration is still here but protected by a deflector shield, a sort of Klingon cloaking device from behind which imperceptibly they continue to inflict terrific damage on our nation's psyche, physique and purse.

The state of our nation was so horrible when the present government was appointed, the most prudent way to heal it was by immediately buckling down to the task of governing and carrying out radical surgery to cut away the extensive corruption wherever it was found.

Adopting such an approach would have exposed the Klingon ship and made its crew an easy target to be phased out. For as yet unexplained reasons, that wasn't done and so the old malaise continues. It continues because cancer's a disease which spreads exponentially whenever it isn't checked on time.

It is The Lord who appoints unto governors their moment on the throne. Whatever problems governors encounter they must either deal with it or have power taken back by The Lord. Once The Lord does not make such a move it means the governors have amply demonstrated the ability and determination to wield power judiciously.

With all these things in mind, I shall continue to pray for the Prime Minister and her government as they enter the home stretch of their first term and call on others to do likewise.
