UNC activist falls ill in Parliament gallery

Patsy falls ill in Parliament

Debate in Parliament was halted for 15 minutes Wednesday when prominent UNC activist Patsy Lezama fell ill in the public gallery.

It happened just before six in the evening while Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar was speaking.

Persad-Bissessar paused and asked Education Minister Dr Tim Gopeesingh to assist. Gopeesingh, who is a medical doctor, provided first aid while an ambulance was on the way. The PM and other MPs went to Patsy's side to offer assistance. 

An ambulance arrived shortly after and it took the patient to the Port of Spain General Hospital.
