Local Government Election coming as scheduled; government will contest as partnership

Kamla Persad-Bissessar: "...spread the news that your government is strong and stable, that your Prime Minister is a woman of courage and determination, that your Ministers and MP’s are servants of the people and that the partnership is here to stay."
Kamla Persad-Bissessar said on Monday the term of office for Local Government Councillors and Aldermen will end on July 26th 2013 and promised that Local Government Elections will be held within three months of that date.

She also announced that the People's Partnership coalition would contest the elections and that nominations for positions of Councillors are now open and that all the details are available on the website of the UNC or from the Secretariat at the UNC Office at Rienzi Complex.

Persad-Bissessar was speaking at a political meeting in Baratraia. She added that the Partnership intends to win all the eleven Corporations now held and possibly more: "We will contest the other three now held by the PNM Opposition with a view to winning those also."

She urged supporters not give the PNM a foothold in the upcoming elections. And took a swipe at the PNM.

"No vendors being danced around by indecision! No secret $60,000 per month consultancy being danced around after getting caught! No cover up about the fisticuffs, slaps, violence and cursing in the screening process! We will not screen vagabonds and pretend that nothing happened in order to fool you!" she declared

The Prime Minister made it clear that the partnership will contest the elections as a Partnership because that is what people voted for in 2010 and she intends to keep her promise to the people.

"We know that this is your desire and I am committed to fulfilling your dream for unity. Your duty is to obliterate the PNM. I have already told you what would happen if they were to gain power!" she said.

She cautioned supporters that Rowley might be prepared to surrender his leadership to the MSJ – "in the hope that the magic of the Partnership can work for him."

She added, "I am sorry for you Rowley.
When Abdulah left, he left the magic formula of unity behind. We still have it and we will win with it while you blend the balisier with the MSJ symbol of your new leader!

"My friends go forth and spread the news that your government is strong and stable, that your Prime Minister is a woman of courage and determination, that your Ministers and MP’s are servants of the people and that the partnership is here to stay."
