Newsday Report: WHY PAY NO STAMP DUTY?

MINISTER of Finance Larry Howai has launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the acquisition of luxury apartments at One Woodbrook Place by partners of the firm Pricewaterhouse-Coopers (PwC) — the auditors of CL Financial (CLF). Howai’s inquiry follows an exclusive report in Sunday Newsday which revealed that four auditors of the firm – or about a quarter of its 14 partners – own apartments at the complex, built by CLF subsidiary Home Construction Limited (HCL) at Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain.
