Community Development Minister Winston Peters has formally rededicated the Carapichaima Community Centre, which has just got a million-dollar facelift.
The Centre now has a new kitchen, ceiling, stage, auditorium and administration office. It's the 22nd such project that the People's Partnership government has completed since taking office in 2010.
"Work with your Village Council, work with your Women’s Groups, and your Sports and Cultural Groups to ensure that you build a safe, secure community that contributes to our national goal of Prosperity for All”, Peters said.
Couva North MP Ramona Ramdial said the main purpose of opening Community Centres is to bring communities together by offering programs to enhance the well-being of constituents, especially the youths, through culture, skills training and sports.
Ramdial said, "Through the Ministries of Community Development, Tertiary Education & Skills Training and the Arts and Multiculturism, a plethora of courses will be offered to the people of the community.”
