| Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar celebrates with members of her cabinet. On January 24, 2010 she created history when she defeated Basdeo Panday 10-1 to become the leader of the United National Congress. One month later on February 24 she became Leader of the Opposition and went on to form the People's Partnership Coalition. On May 24 she created history again when she led the partnership to a stunning 29-12 victory against the People's National Movement and became T&T's first female PM. |
