Nirad Tewarie quits as COP general secretary

Nirad Tewarie has resigned as general secretary of the Congress of the People (COP), citing personal reasons.

The National Executive of the Congress of the People told local media it has accepted the resignation and thanked Tewarie for his service to the party.

COP has appointed Clyde Weatherhead as acting general secretary until it selects a person to fill the vacancy.
