Jack says PNM campaign in Tobago is based on race

Jack Warner told reporters on Saturday the People's National Movement (PNM) is running an underground race campaign in Tobago.

The chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) also said he plans to target the PNM and Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Orville London when he goes to Tobago later this week.

He has threatened to expose several issues and would be seeking London's resignation.

Warner said the PNM is carrying out a house-to-house campaign preaching racial politics in Tobago ahead of the January 21 THA election. Warner said several persons have told him that PNM agents approached them with “racial talks”.

Warner noted that in his eagerness to look good, Hilton Sandy exposed the PNM’s race campaign by talking about a ship from Calcutta waiting to come dock in Tobago if the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) wins the election.

He said he is "disgusted" that the PNM continues to refuse to withdraw Sandy from the campaign.

He said PNM leader Keith Rowley, who applauded Sandy, "plays Indian lover in Trinidad and puts on a kurta and goes to Divali Nagar and eats saheena and roti and then goes to Debe to eat doubles. He then goes to Tobago and practices what has become the norm for him as the biggest Indian hater."
