Cuba medical checkup for Patrick Manning

Patrick Manning
The Express newspaper reported Sunday that former Prime Minister and MP for San Fernando Patrick Manning will leave for Cuba Sunday with his wife, Hazel, for a medical check-up.

The paper said Mrs. Manning confirmed the trip in a telephone conversation.
"It's just for a normal, annual medical check up," she is quoted as telling the paper. Manning will be away for one week and is expected to return home next Friday, the paper said.

Cuban doctors have treated Manning since 1998 when he had surgery to repair leaking heart valves. The Cubans implanted a pacemaker in 2004 and removed
a malignant tumour in his left kidney in 2008.

In January this year Manning suffered a stroke and has been on medical leave from Parliament since then.
