Letter: PM must not show weakness

My questions to our "leaders"— spiritual and otherwise are—are we walking in total blindness and dullness of understanding? And what are we teaching our nation?

I agree with our Prime Minister's response to this "Jezebelic" attack on her government and this nation.

To Dr Kublalsingh's I say be very careful the messages you are sending to future leaders. No excuses can be offered for the public display of disrespect and venomous abuse levelled against an authority figure. Let's set things in perspective:

1. He chose a hunger strike, so nobody else would be responsible for his demise
2. The PM cannot cede to his demands; she would be setting a bad precedent
3. If she does she will be branded weak and spineless
4. Dr Kublalsingh must be charged for his obscene outburst; if not, we cannot charge anyone else for obscene language
5. Yes, the "crown" should reach down to the "commoner" but you can't give him your sceptre. "The tail cannot wag the dog."
