For many generations, the name 'de Lima' signified things of high worth and value, not only to citizens of Trinbago, but also of the whole Caribbean and east Venezuela.
Indeed, for many generations, so treasured the brand 'de Lima' was, if a man of any age wished to cop a woman's heart or hand thereby to make her his Queen, he would rely on what de Lima had to offer to guide him on the right path, since diamonds are forever and a girl's best friends.
Aptly, that is why de Lima was located at the most prominent corner of Queen Street, Port of Spain: just to refresh the older readers and inform the younger ones, de Lima proudly stood diagonally opposite Perreira's, south of Ross Drugs and opposite a rival named Maraj Jewellers, with main entrance plumb at the southwestern apex of Queen and Frederick Streets.
Sadly, of late 'de Lima' seems no longer capable of producing gems or rocks to sweep a woman off her feet, rather only brazen dross to invite her scorn.
Since, despite the best efforts of many, de Lima seems deadly set to be rebranded as a beastly thing, no longer as something inviting beauty, it makes no sense asking why de Lima is moving so unpolished, so tactlessly to sow discord...instead, simply to abandon de Lima to the wolves prowling in the wilderness, gnashing the teeth in chagrin over their self-wrought exile predicament.
It is best, therefore, to close the books on de Lima altogether and rock with the Queen, if man and woman is to enter or maintain a harmonious partnership. For 'de Lima' has simply lost focus: seeks to rent asunder what God (vox populi) together has joined.
