Art society presenting exhibition to make 50 years of art

The Art Society of Trinidad & Tobago (ASTT) in collaboration with the Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism and is hosting an exhibition from May 18 to June 1 at the Art Gallery in Port of Spain that highlights 50 years of art at the gallery.

It is titled: "Nostalgia - The Old Inspires the New".

A media release from the multiculturalism ministry Tuesday said, "The exhibition is one in a series of initiatives and activities designed to engender a deep sense of pride in Trinidad and Tobago’s history and heritage." 

It added, "Patrons can expect to be navigated through early forms of visual creations to more contemporary styles and techniques."

Minister of State in the Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism, Senator Embau Moheni will deliver the feature address. 

Permanent Secretary Jennifer Jones and ASTT President Gail P. Guy are also scheduled to attend the event. A cocktail reception will follow the formal opening.

The venue is the Art Society of TT, Corner Jamaica Boulevard and St. Vincent Avenue, Federation Park, Port of Spain.
