Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar performed Puja with members of her immediate family Sunday to celebrate her 60th birthday.
The private Hindu ceremony was held at her residence in Phillipine near San Fernando with Pandit Abdhenand Persad-Sharma officiating.
Persad-Bissessar has always made prayers an important part of her life. In her political campaigns she has never forgotten prayers and one of her mantras has been, "Put God in front and walk behind".
Following the Puja, she distributed gifts to her guests, including 75 children and elderly persons.
