DPP not ready; murder cases against 7 cops adjourned

A magistrate on Tuesday adjourned to March 8 the preliminary inquiry into murder charges against seven Southern Division police officers because relevant documents were not available from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

The seven officers are:

  • Khemraj Sahadeo
  • Renaldo Reviero
  • Glenn Singh
  • Roger Nicholas
  • Safraz Juman
  • Antonio Ramadin
  • Nicole Clement
They are charged with the murders of Abigail Johnson, Alana Duncan and Kerron “Fingers” Eccles, who were shot and killed at Rochard Douglas Road, Barrackpore, in July last year. Eyewitnesses reported that the victims were not armed.

On Tuesday the matter was called before Princes Town Senior Magistrate Debra Quintyne. However DPP Roger Gaspard told the court the State is still waiting for forensic reports. He also said there are still some outstanding issues in relation to disclosure.
