PM congratulates T&T team on winning T-20 tournament

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Monday sent congratulations to the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Team on their dramatic and convincing victory against Jamaica, in the 3rd WIBC Caribbean T-20 Tournament, at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

In a media release, the Prime Minister said this second consecutive win in the Tournament puts Trinidad and Tobago at the top of Regional cricket in this format of the game. 


“The Trinidad and Tobago team continues to maintain its popularity and create excitement for the fans throughout the region through its performance on the field," she said.

"The team structure and good all round collaboration has produced tangible results and will auger well...as they move on to compete in India," she added.

West Indies all rounder Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard were starts of the game, which ended with a 63 run victory over Jamaica.

Persad-Bissessar said the performance of the Trinidad and Tobago Team led by new Captain Denesh Ramdin was superb, noting that the team played "a superbly professional game" enabling them a well-deserved victory. “We look forward to a repeat of this inspired performance when the Team moves on to the Champions League T20 in India”, stated the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to congratulate Pollard on capturing the Man of the Tournament award for his 153 runs, which included 16 sixes. And praised the team’s performance as a total unit with one mission.
