Letter: Unfair to seek miracle from Gibbs

All things being equal, I think Commissioner of Police Dwayne Gibbs and his countryman Jack Ewatski have done fairly well when you consider the horrendously wild crime scene they inherited from their predecessors and the previous government.

On a scale of one to ten I will give them both a six and I will give all the other incumbents before them since 2002 a paltry two.

The fact is none of their vehement critics have seen their performance discriptions to know what their targets and duties are and they are not considering the overall quality, attitude and integrity of the people they have to work with, the archaic systems they have to change, and the fact that change takes time.

Unlike those before them both Gibbs and Ewatski were expected to perform miracles because the country was and is crying out for miracles and they have been put under the microscope unlike those previous top cops.

I doubt very much that so much hate has ever been meted out to Trinidadians working in Canada, especially those working for gigantic salaries in big positions, as has been meted out to Gibbs and Ewatski from their vitriolic, unfair local critics.

We Trinis suddenly want everything to happen instantly and we have no patience. We prefer to spout hate and criticism because they are foreigners instead of sending positive thoughts and prayers that they will achieve success in the war against the criminals. I believe it is that monster xenophobia roaring again.

Why these negative vibes cyar done I wonder?
