The Prisons Officers Association signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) for a five per cent increase in salaries overing the period January 1, 2008 to December 31st 2010.
According to the agreement covering second division officers, cost of living allowances (COLA) at the end of 2007 would be consolidated with the slary at that date before the increases are applied.
In the first year, the increase would be two per cent, year two will be one percent and the final years, 2010, the increase would be two per cent.
The CPO said, "In addition, each employee will receive a lump sum payment of $3,000 and a new COLA of $125 per month for the period January 1st 2008 to December 31st 2009, and $145 per month per month from January 1st 2010."
The agreement also provides improved allowances such as house, meals, laundry, and Proficiency and Qualification.
The deal was reached between both sides after 25 meetings.
