Officials of the Criminal Intelligence Unit and the Marine Interdiction Unit of the Customs and Excise Division seized a 40-fort container at Point Lisas Thursday that was stuffed with marijuana.
Officials say the ganja has a street value of about $20 million.
Reports say officials seized the container late Thursday evening.
It's the third time this year that the authorities have seized large quantities of the weed at the port in central Trinidad.
In one bust police seized ganga valued at about $18 million and a few days larger Customs and Excise personnel seized a container from Jamaica with ganja valued at around $30 million.
Last week trade unionist Michael Annisette claimed that several containers of drugs and weapons have passed through the ports of P{oint Lisas and Port of Spain but he did not provide additional details. He said the people who imported the containers are the ones who should be the targets during State of Emergency.
