WASA cuts off Harry's Waterpark for illegal connection

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has charged the owner of Harry's Waterpark in Tabaquite, south Trinidad with having an illegal water connection. And WASA officials have disconnected the water supply to the park.

In addition WASA has charged the park's owner, Harripersad Ragoonanan, with having an illegal water connection off WASA's 16-inch iron main.

Officials told local media WASA also found evidence of tampering with its four inch washout valve located off a 12” PVC main close to the Park.

In an official statement the authority noted that its investigations carried out over several months have revealed that "an illegal 2” PVC line was connected to a 16” transmission main as well a 4” washout valve tapped directly into a WASA transmission main that was channeled, via gravity directly into the water park."

It added, "The Authority wishes to reiterate that it is illegal to attach any pipe or apparatus or make any alterations to any pipeline belonging to the Authority."

In addition to disconnecting the water supply to the park, WASA has now billed Harry's Waterpark for consumption of between 11,000 and 15,000 gallons of water per day.

Ragoonanan is to appear before a Rio Claro Magistrate on September 27th to answer the charges.
