Police have arrested Selwyn "Robocop" Alexis at the upscale One Woodbrook Place Apartment Complex along with a young woman.
Police have told media Alexis can assist them in their investigation into the 2008 murder of a Vincentian national, gang-related activities and possession of stolen vehicles found in the basement of One Woodbrook Place.
Media reports say he had been under surveillance for some months. Operations intensified after the declaration of a state of emergency.
The reports say a special team of 20 officers raided the apartment complex on Tuesday night and arrested Alexis. They also seized a laptop and several documents.
Alexis had been living at that address for a while and paying rent of between $10,00 and $15,000 per month.
Alexis was most recently in the news over "landgrabbing" at Cashew Gardens.
Last year, a Tunapuna magistrate freed Alexis and two others on charges of kidnapping, robbery, larceny and receiving stolen goods.
