Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has extended condolences to the family of Professor Julian Kenny, who died Tuesday.

The Honourable Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar wishes to extend condolences to the family of Professor Julian Kenny on his recent and untimely passing.
The Honourable Prime Minister recalls Professor Kenny, as one who made his mark documenting the natural history of Trinidad and Tobago, and more so, of the Caribbean.

The Honourable Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar wishes to extend condolences to the family of Professor Julian Kenny on his recent and untimely passing.
The Honourable Prime Minister recalls Professor Kenny, as one who made his mark documenting the natural history of Trinidad and Tobago, and more so, of the Caribbean.
Professor Kenny, best known for his work in zoogeography, and his knowledge of the natural history of the Caribbean, was seen as a luminary in his field, with his work also extending to the development of research students at UWI developing ecological profiles of the Tamana Caves, the Caroni Swamp and the Aripo Savannahs.
The Honourable Prime Minister recalls one of Professor Kenny's quotes "Explore your curiosity. If you have questions, keep looking for answers. Look in books, ask knowledgeable people, seek other sources and continue to ask questions" and labels Professor Kenny as one of the country's foremost resources in the documentation and protection of our wildlife.
The Prime Minister distinguishes Professor Kenny's reputation as a scientist, with his advocacy of environmental issues seeing him recommended to many national committees.
His wide spread expertise in the field saw him function as an Advisor to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Law of the Sea Convention; Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Marine Affairs; and Member of a Cabinet-appointed Committee for drafting legislation to create National Parks, and later led her to appoint him as Chairman of the Environmental Management Authority.
The Honourable Prime Minister again extends her deepest condolences to the family and friends of Professor Julian Kenny, and desires that the peace which comes from the memories of love and life shared, provide comfort now and in the days ahead.
