The national executive (NATEX) of the United National Congress (UNC) pledged on Wednesday to fully support the party's political leader, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Wednesday's meeting was the first for the national executive since May 4, 2011. The political leader said Warner expressed the need for a formal meeting, at which officers tabled 11 reports with proposals to go forward.
UNC chairman Jack Warner made the commitment on behalf of NATEX following a meeting of the executive at Rienzi Complex, Couva.
Warner was specific about support for the Prime Minister in her bid to ensure "industrial peace, economic growth and stability in T&T". For her part, Persad-Bissessar expressed thanks for the support.

Persad-Bissessar said the UNC plans to convene the constitutional arms of the party, which include the women’s congress, national assembly, the parliamentary arm and youth congress.
Warner also confirmed that Glenn Ramadharsingh has resigned as the UNC's general secretary and has been replaced by Dave Tancoo, an economist and personal adviser to the Prime Minister.
Warner explained that with the recent alignment of portfolios for ministers and the additional workload handed to Ramadharsingh, the people's minister decided to focus on his ministerial responsibilities. He will continue to serve as an adviser to the NATEX.
Warner said other minister will also also advise NATEX. They include Dr Tim Gopeesingh, Fazal Karim (a former UNC general secretary), Rupert Griffith and Chandresh Sharma.
