The chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) has written a congratulatory letter to Monsignor Jason Gordon on his appointment as Bishop of Kingstown and Bridgetown.
In the letter dated July 13, 2011, Jack Warner said, "Your ascendancy comes at a time of great rejoicing as the national community welcomes Archbishop elect of Port of Spain Monsignor Joseph Harris. Your appointment as well gives to us much reason to celebrate.
"Your stewardship has always been one of commitment and service and this country will perpetually be grateful to you for the peace you brokered in the war of Gonzales and mediated an initiative of which the national community can still be proud which is known as the Pride of Gonzales.
"As Chairman of the UNC, I want to wish you well. I know that God's blessings will be upon you and that you will trust the relationship, which you have established with the Father to guide the decisions, which from time to time you will be called upon to make.
"It is the confidence that you instill in all that assures us that the Bishopric of Kingstown and Bridgetown will be blessed by your Ministry and in this regard, on behalf of the UNC I want to wish you divine success as you continue the challenge to lead our people to the fountain of God’s wisdom.
"May God continue to bless you."
