The Opposition People's National Movement (PNM) wants Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to fire Jack Warner from her cabinet.
In a media release Wednesday the PNM said it believes Warner's "apparent voluntary resignation as Vice President from FIFA on Monday was a mere ruse to give the impression here at home that he was cleared of the cash for votes bribery allegations which led to his temporary suspension from the football organisation last month."
The PNM said it is now being reported that the FIFA Ethics Committee merely withdrew the charges following his resignation from FIFA.
The PNM said on Saturday Warner denied that he quit FIFA but on Monday 20th June, he revealed that his resignation letter was dated Friday 17th June, 2011.
The PNM said it "considers this behaviour to be reprehensible and irresponsible and therefore call on Mr Jack Warner to resign from his position as Minister of Government. If he fails to do so, we call on the Prime Minister to relieve him of his office and to save the face and reputation of Trinidad and Tobago."
