Jack Warner leaves for Switzerland Saturday to appear before FIFA's Ethic Committee to deal with corruption allegations made against him and FIFA presidential candidate Muhammad Bin Hamman by FIFA executive member Chuck Blazer.
Both men have denied any wrongdoing. And on Thursday Warner’s Cabinet colleague Roodal Moonilal expressed confidence in Warner, telling reporters the Works and Transport Minister will be cleared of all charges.
Warner and bin Hammam will attend a hearing on Sunday at FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich. Moonilal admitted he did not know all the details of Blazer’s allegations against Warner but was certain “Warner will triumph.”
He also said there is no reason why Warner should choose between his FIFA responsibilities and his role in the Trinidad and Tobago government. Moonilal said Warner's involvement with FIFA has not effect his ministerial responsibilities or his ability to serve as chairman of the United National Congress (UNC).
A recent opinion poll has sown that Warner is the highest rated minister for performance.
