Chutney Soca Monarch "Rikki Jai" left for London Thursday evening to join Trinidad and Tobago's cultural contingent that is accompanying Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar at events commemorating Commonwealth Week in London.
Before his departure the entertainer told the Express newspaper he got a call from the Prime Minister to join the cultural team that comprises Soca Monarch and Road March winner Machel Montano; the HD crew comprising Patrice Roberts, Kernel Roberts, Pravana Maharaj, and Timel Rivas; and four-time Calypso Queen Denyse Plummer.
Jai assured the paper that he won't be singing any "rum song". He said, "I have enough music to present one hour of work and sing nothing about rum." He plans to perform his successful 2005 song "Mor Tor" and other songs themed on Hindu weddings.
