That's the unsolicited advise Dr Lackram Bodoe received Saturday from Dr Anand Chattergoon, acting Medical Director of the San Fernando General Hospital, in an email with respect to the controversy over the death of Chrystal Ramsoomair and the subsequent suspension of nine medical personnel and the dismissal of Paula Chester-Cumberbatch as CEO of the health authority.
The SWHRA advised Chatoorgoon on Friday that it will not renew his contract, which expires on March 31.
In his email, Chattergoon sounded his own trumpet, telling the SHRHA chairman: “The loss of the Chester-Cumberbatch-Chatoorgoon combination will be a severe blow to the SWRHA and the San Fernando General Hospital."
He added, "You will find it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to find a CEO and MD (medical director) as dedicated, devoted and committed as we were. It is not at all easy to run the SFGH, and no one knows that hospital better than I do at the present time.
“Many had doubts about your suitability for the post of chairman and you have proved them right. If you stay, as sure as the night follows day, you will sink or destroy the SWRHA ship and undo all the good work that my CEO and I have done.”
Chattergoon said doctors and nurses have lost all faith, trust and confidence in Bodoe. “They will continue to agitate for your removal for you seem not to understand that of all the resources, the greatest resource is the human resource.”
The doctor accused Bodoe of "turning his back on poor people" and stated that he cannot think of "one doctor or nurse" who supports the chairman.
Bodoe told the Guardian newspaper he did not wish to respond to Chattergoon's statements. “All I can say is I do not think it is appropriate to dignify Dr Chatoorgoon’s allegations with a response. I refuse to be drawn into any public squabble with an employee of the SWRHA.”
