Vicky bounces back, promises to repay "every cent" to clients

"I do not plan to close up shop."
Vicky Boodram-Arjoonsingh is back at work after a week in police custody. And she has promised that it will be business as usual for Boodram’s Travel and Ship-Ahoy cruises, which ran into trouble over the cancellation of two cruises and her failure to refund clients their money.

Boodram-Arjoonsingh is also under investigation by the FBI and Carnival Cruise Line has sued him in an American court.

The travel industry executive told the Trinidad Guardian she would pay back "every cent" to the people who paid for the cruises. And she was adamant that she never intended to defraud anyone.

Many people have made futile attempts to get refunds of the the money they paid to Boodram-Arjoonsingh's company. She told the Guardian it's because “Republic Bank has advised that they have closed both accounts and so all of the cheques are null and void.”

She added. “We have started calling up the passengers and making arrangements for them to collect refunds."

Boodram-Arjoonsingh said she is no fraud, adding that the whole matter was "blown out of proportion". She also said the the lawsuit by Carnival Corporation is “ridiculous”. She denied the company's claim that she fabricated a letter from Republic Bank to try to defraud Carnival.

She suggested that many people want to see her fall but said that won't happen. “I do not plan to close up shop," she said. "I will continue with my company.”
