Boards appointed for 9 higher education agencies

The Trinidad and Tobago Cabinet has appoimnted Professor Clement Sankat to chair the National Commission for Higher Education. Sankat is pro vice chancellor and principal of the St Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI).

The cabinet has also made other appointments to boards for agencies of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education (MSTTE).

The heads of the other boards are:
  • Dr Allan McKenzie, College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT). McKenzie is head of Department of English and Communication, UWI School of Business Limited
  • Dr Michael R Dowlat, Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago. He is principal Naparima College, San Fernando
  • Hayden Ferreira, Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI). He is project director, Caribbean Cement Limited (Jamaica);
  • Professor Indar Ramnarine, Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA), who is Professor of Fisheries and Aquaculture, University of the West Indies;
  • David Lee, Metal Industries Company Ltd. Lee is a businessman
  • Jwala Ramberran, National Institute of Higher Education, Research Science and Technology (NIHERST). He is an economic strategist, Involve Financial Ltd, Trinidad and Tobago;
  • Dhanraj Goolcharan, National Training Agency (NTA) who is currently project manager at Petrotrin
  • Chandra Gupta Supersad, Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP). Supersad is Careers and Placement officer at the University of the West Indies
