Trinidad and Tobago will have a new water desalination plant by January. The plant is currently under construction at Trinmar's Point Fortin refinery compound.Public Utilities Minister Emmanuel Goerge and WASA CEO Ganga Singh toured the plant Wednesday and announced that it will provide 1.5 million gallons of water daily at peak capacity.
Seven Seas Water Corporation based in Tampa, Florida, is building the plant, which would improve the water supply to La Brea, Guapo, Point Fortin and Siparia, George told reporters.
