The new mayor of Port of Spain pledged Tuesday to clean up the capital of Trinidad and Tobago and focus on security of citizens.
Businessman Louis Lee Sing made the pledges at his inauguration. However he said security must involve all the stakeholders.
"It means everyone who use the city has a responsibility for the security in the city," he said and appealed for the cooperation of the central government.
The executive chairman of Citadel Ltd, which owns i95, told reporters making the transition is not difficult for him.
"I understand the needs of the people...I am not coming from a background of only business...most of my life I have done service for the people,” Lee Sing said.
Government Minister Chandresh Sharma, who spoke at the ceremony, said in the past the corporation wasted money and stated that the city and the central government would have to work very closely to have better accountability for expenditure.
