Warner promises "another bombshell" on Wednesday: Is it Eddie Hart?

Jack Warner has planned "another bombshell" for Wednesday night at a political meeting of the People's Partnership in El Dorado.

The works minister didn't give details but there is a lot of speculation that former PNM cabinet minister Eddie Hart will be on the political platform with the governing coalition.

Hart was the PNM MP for Tunapuna in the 8th Parliament but former PNM Leader Patrick Manning blanked him along with Fiztgerald Hinds and Ken Valley in the 2007 general election.

If Hart crosses over he would be the third prominent member of the opposition People's National Movement (PNM) to defect in a week.

Last week two PNM members switched allegiances and joined the People's partnership - former San Fernando Mayor Ian Atherly and former PNM MP Roger Joseph.

“We have another bombshell to drop at EL Dorado...people are leaving the PNM daily," Warner told reporters as he launched a new Five Rivers to Port of Spain bus service.

The minister boarded a PTSC vehicle to commence the service and rode the bus along with other regular passengers.

Warner scoffed at suggestions by PNM leader Keith Rowley and former MP Fitzgerald Hinds that he is paying people to join the People's Partnership, saying if that was the case the party would be bankrupt because of the sheer number of defections.

Speaking about the former San Fernando mayor, Warner made it clear that no one could buy the former athlete.

“Anybody who has to pay Atherly to come across has to be Bill Gates or Donald Trump. Mr Atherly would not bare his soul for any kind of money... it is an insult to him,” Warner said.

Atherly has also denied reports that he was paid to leave the PNM and join the People’s Partnership (PP) Government.

“I cannot be bought. What are they going to buy me with, a house, a Sentra or a Civic, I drive a BMW car.”

He also said no one has promised to make him mayor. “I am not seeking mayoral office because I came in late...I have made it clear, time-after-time, that I am an activist for the people of San Fernando. I am about service,” he added.

He challenged his accusers "to bring forward proof", declaring that his business is open for any audit or scrutiny at anytime.

Warner apologised to Atherly and all those who have been insulted by the PNM. “They would say all kinds of nastiness and I have no intentions of dignifying anything Mr Rowley says or the acting rasta Mr Fitzgerald Hinds,” Warner said.

He said the PNM has nothing to offer the people which is in stark contract to his party.

"The People’s Partnership is a party that serves the people and that has been lacking in the PNM in the past,” he said.
