Labour Party's 13 year regin ends in UK

Britain's Conservative Leader David Cameron has become Britain's new prime minister, ending Labour's 13 years in power.

Speaking from the steps of the official residence at 10 Downing Street, Cameron said Tuesday evening the Queen has asked him to form a new government and he has accepted.

He paid tribute to former prime minister Gordon Brown, who resigned earlier in the day.

Cameron said Brown's Labour government had made the country more open at home and compassionate abroad.

Cameron, 43, also said he is aiming to form a coalition government between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats, led by Nick Clegg.
