In 2007, PNM members in the constituency of Toco/Manzanilla told their political leader they didn't want Indra Sinanan Ojah-Maharaj as their representative.
But when Manning ignored them they fell in line, followed the leader and elected Ojah-Maharaj.
Now the incumbent MP is facing opposition again from PNM members.
Earlier this week they booed her during a meeting in Valencia and told Manning again they don't want her.
Three candidates are competing against her for the nomination, including former UNC candidate and businessman, Anil Juteram. The others Ronald Boynes, brother of former PNM cabinet minister Roger Boynes, and Eric Taylor (Pink Panther).
PNM constituencies are trying to meet the party's deadline of April 6 to complete the nomination process for an election that is expected soon.
On Wednesday officials will screen nominees for San Fernando East, Pointe-a-Pierre and Toco/Manzanilla.
San Fernando East is backing their MP, Prime Minister Manning, who has represented the constituency since 1971. There is no challenger.
In Pointe-a-Pierre, officials have confirmed that incumbent MP Christine Kangaloo is the constituency's choice.
