Jack hugs Suruj; Daaga says it's a dream realized

Jack Warner took the stage at Fyzabad Wednesday to the music of crazy proclaiming "Patrick Manning Have to Go" as the crowd went wild with emotion in the shadow of the statue of Buzz Butler.

He hugged Suruj Rambachan and urged the photographers who took the picture to send it to Patrick Manning, who he said is trying to make "Khuchur (mischief) between Suruj and me".

He said he wept when the five leaders of the united opposition came together on stage as one. "Our dream has been realized," he said. He added that for the past two weeks he worked tirelessly with all the leaders to forge a partnership to "give this country a government it deserves."

He added, "The best thing you can do on Monday May 24, vote them out, vote them out...and on Tuesday May 25 under the political leadership of Prime Minister in waiting, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, you will have back your government."

Warner's brief comments came ahead of a speech by the revolutionary leader Makandal Daaga of the National Joint Action Committee (NJAC).

Daaga was one of the leaders of the Black power movement in 1970.

He saluted his leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar and declared, "Tonight for me it is a dream fulfilled...It is a hope realized...this is your moment. Let Manning know that the moment has come!"

Daaga recalled the events of February 26 when citizens were brutalized by an oppressive regime. "Never again must that happen ... if you want to put an end to the worst exploitation of man by man ... then there is one lesson you must learn....Take your right hand and put it on your heart and say after me, I am the government'!"
