Ganga to be sports adviser in UNC gov't: Kamla

Kamla Persad-Bissessar said Tuesday a UNC government will include Trinidad and Tobago captain Daren Ganga as a special adviser to the Minister of Sport.

The opposition leader made the pledge at an awards ceremony hosted by the All Apaches Sports Club in Barrackpore at which Ganga was present with his wife.

"The talent and commitment of a young person like Darren is something we need at the national level," Persad-Bissessar said.

She told her audience she is ready for an election.

"And when that election comes, is ten to one blows and after we form the new government we will need people who can work with us, who can assist the community, who can help us grow and develop and I intend to ask Daren Ganga to be a special adviser, one of the special advisers to the new Minister of Sport," she said.

“One thing I know that Daren will not do, he will never advise any Sports Minister to put up a flag for...two million dollars."

Ganga told reporters he remains committed to the national and West Indies cricket teams but added that "it would be an honour" to be considered for such a position.
