COP welcomes election, urges all to unite

Congress of the People (COP) acting political leader Wendy Lee Yuen has welcomed the announcement of an election with the dissolution of Parliament.

In a media release Friday she said this has provided citizens the opportunity "to free ourselves from the political tyranny that has characterized the current PNM administration."

She added, "The prime minister has finally been broken by the weight of scandals, corruption and mismanagement being exposed by the day."

Lee Yuen said COP is ready to work to establish good governance in Trinidad and Tobago.

"We in the COP stand ready to offer the electorate something it has not had before...a party that will bring hope, opportunity and a brighter future to this country," she said.

"COP stands ready to begin the healing process. We now reach out to the entire nation to unite with us for all our sakes."
