The leaders of the Congress of the People (COP) and the United national Congress announced Monday that they have reached agreement on a unity accord for the general election.
Winston Dookeran and Kamla Persad-Bissessar met earlier in the day and held a media briefing in St. Augustine to update reporters on their discussions.
The leaders said two teams of 3 people each will work together over the next 24 hours to finalize all discussions.
The accord under review will determine the allocation of seats for the election. It also outlines the rules under which the parties will operate to form a government of national unity if their members win the largest number of seats in the House of Representatives.
