Calder Hart back in TT: Report

The Guardian newspaper reported Sunday that former executive chairman of the Urban Development Corporation of T&T (UDeCOTT) Calder Hart is back in the country.

The paper said he returned from Miami on American Airlines flight 1819 accompanied by former UDeCOTT board member Dr Krishna Bahadoorsingh.

The Guardian quoted a passenger who was on the American Airlines flight as saying that on arrival Hart did not pass through normal Immigration and Customs channels with other passengers.

Hart has been the subject of much controversy since he abruptly quit his job and left the country on March 5 with his family.

He resigned within days of the Congress of the People (COP) revealing documents allegedly linking Hart's wife, Sherrine, to a company that won lucrative contracts from UDeCOTT.

Shortly after he left Trinidad Attorney General John Jeremie revealed that he had been investigating Hart since September 2009.

The report of the Uff commission of inquiry recommended an investigation into Hart and UDeCOTT. When Jeremie laid the report in the Senate last week he announced the dismissal of the UDeCOTT board and said the government will act on the recommendations of the Uff report.
