David Abdullah reminded Patrick Manning of the history of his own party Monday night, stating that PNM founder Dr Eric Williams did not win a majority in 1956.
"Mr Manning doesn't even know the history of his own party. In 1956 the PNM did not win a majority and chose to enter into a coalition with the governor and formed government," he said.
He said Williams could have worked with Tubal Uriah Buzz Butler but chose instead to work with the country's colonial masters to take countrol of the Legislative Council.
Abdullah was speaking at a UNC meeting in Chaguanas as a representative of the unity coallition that was formally announced on April 21 in Fyzabad.
He said Manning and the people he has been defending would have a lot to answer for after the PNM is voted out of office on May 24.
He said Manning cannot pretend that he is clean and not involved in corruption when it is clear that those he has defended have been corrupt. He reminded his audience of a statement that the late Lloyd best used to make: " You cannot have 40 thieves if you don't have an Ali Baba!"
He called on everyone to support the coaltion and proclaimed, "We will rise!"
