That's the word from Opposition MP Dr Roodal Moonilal, who is heading a special UNC unity committee comprising Suruj Rambachan, Lyndira Oudit and Fuad Khan.
Moonilal told the media the committee has already received dozens of submissions from people who have offered on the unity process.
He said the committee plans to hold a session next week to hear oral recommendations.
The Moonilal committee hopes to be able to present a "comprehensive philosophical document" that would have to be approved by the party before it is submitted to Congress of the People (COP) leader Winston Dookeran.
"There’s an enormous amount of excitement in the air among several segments of the population to mobilise all the forces," Moonilal told reporters.
"We are just exercising as much caution as possible to deliver a comprehensive approach rather than a knee jerk approach that deals with electoral spoils and the competition of the political platform," Moonilal added.
"We believe that any adhoc approach will fail if we don’t set the correct background involving principles, codes of conduct, joint policy ownership, alternative dispute resolution and leadership arrangements.
"And that requires study and a more holistic approach that will be more sustainable in the interest of not only removing the PNM, but in providing the best governance in the best interest of the country," the Oropouche East MP stated.
Dookeran is on record as saying that people want to see a serious unification. "If we do not rise to the occasion of having such unification, then people will have to make choices with respect for different parties," Dookeran said recently.
COP has invited the UNC to meet to discuss plans for Local Government Elections which are due this year. The party has referred the matter to the unification committee.
