A member of the new executive of the United National Congress (UNC) made several scathing comments about his party on a radio show Tuesday morning.
Barrington "Skippy" Thomas insulted the leadership and spoke in support of former UNC leader Basdeo Panday, suggesting that the new UNC leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, and party Chairman Jack Warner are sidelining black people.
And he also suggested that it was wrong for politicians to hound former UDeCOTT executive chairman Calder Hart.
Skippy also suggested that race was a factor in the opposition leader's decision not to appoint him to the Senate.
The Tobago representative on the UNC national executive was one of the harshest critics of Panday and the previous UNC leadership during the January internal election.
He ran on an independent slate in the January internal election on of the UNC, and was not part of Kamla Persad-Bissessar's team.
During the campaign, he praised candidates opposed to the Panday slate, including Persad-Bissessar and Jack Warner, hailing them as the only leaders capable of uniting the country and embracing its diversity.

It just goes to show what some people are really about, I mean how could this idiot be on the team, praise the team as the only one to unite the people and when not given the opportunity to be a senator, he suddenly condemns everyone and label them as racist, what madness really going on in this place. Does this idiot believe that a senator is simply a loud mouth idiot who can obtain documents from construction sites.
